Composed of three passionate musicians from varied backgrounds, the New York-based trioMetropolitan brings a fresh
perspective to well-known works of the piano trio repertoire as well as a commitment to presenting new works of the day.
Formed while students at the State University of New York – Purchase Conservatory of Music, the ensemble has
undertaken intense study with Julia Lichten of the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra and Jon Klibonoff, pianist of the acclaimed
Trio Solisti. Giving their collective debut in Westchester County, trioMetropolitan’s members have performed across the
United Stated and abroad as soloists, orchestral players, and chamber artists. Pianist In-Sun Bang made her successful
Carnegie Hall debut in 2006; violinist Ross Monroe Winter has been a member of both the Virginia Symphony Orchestra
and the Richmond Symphony; cellist Adriana Pera has an eclectic career ranging from numerous performances of new
chamber music to the Parkdale Revolutionary Orchestra – a contemporary rock band. Having worked with many notable
musicians in the field, including members of the Emerson, Orion, St. Lawrence, and Shanghai String Quartets,
trioMetropolitan combines diverse backgrounds that culminate in dazzling performances.
In-Sun Bang, pianist
Acclaimed by the Los Angeles Times as “a prominent pianist,” In-Sun Bang, 24, has impressed audiences with her unique
artistry that is a blend of brilliant talent and superb musical training. She made her successful debut at Carnegie Hall in
2006 and has given recitals at numerous festivals throughout the United States, Europe and Asia, including performances
at the Bowdoin Summer Music Festival in Maine, Zephyr International Music Festival of Italy, Eumyoun Music Festival in
Korea and at the Los Angeles Piano Festival. An active chamber musician and pianist of trioMetropolitan, Ms. Bang is
sought after as soloist and as a collaborative pianist, having performed with eminent artists and numerous orchestras. Ms.
Bang began playing the piano at the age of seven and graduated with the highest honor from the Yewon School,
continuing her studies at the prestigious Seoul Arts High School in her native Korea. In 2000, she moved to the United
States to pursue studies at the Idyllwild Arts Academy in California. Ms. Bang received her Bachelor of Music and Master
of Music degrees from the Manhattan School of Music with academic honors and distinction in performance. She has
trained with distinguished artists and pianists such as Lazar Berman (Lake Como Academy, Italy), Dr. Jin Woo Chung, Ick
Choo Moon (Seoul National University), Stephanie Brown (State University of New York) and Dr. Marc Silverman
(Manhattan School of Music). As a winner of numerous competitions and awards including the Korea Music Competition,
SAHS Collaborative Pianist Award, and the IAA Chamber Music Competition, she has received recognition as a promising
young artist. A devoted chamber musician, she actively appears in many performances throughout the United States and
abroad, including the opening concert of Opus Hall in Korea, Chamber Music Fest in California, and the World Trade
Center Memorial Concert in New York City. She is anticipating an Artist Diploma from the State University of New York –
Purchase Conservatory in May 2009 and will continue further studies at Columbia University that same year.
Ross Monroe Winter, violinist
Violinist Ross Monroe Winter has a versatile career as an orchestral, solo and chamber musician. He has been a core
member of the Virginia Symphony Orchestra, Richmond Symphony, Boston Philharmonic and has performed with
numerous other orchestras, frequently serving as a principal player. He has appeared at the Kennedy Center, Symphony
Hall in Boston, and Carnegie Hall among others. Always enjoying engagements as soloist, he has performed with flautist
Paula Robison and the Gardner Chamber Orchestra (MA) as well as performances with the Richmond Philharmonic and in
Boston’s Jordan Hall. Mr. Winter has performed at the Santo Domingo Music Festival of the Dominican Republic, as well
as the Aspen, Wintergreen, Virginia Arts, Todi, and Music at Penn’s Woods Festivals. An avid chamber musician and
violinist of trioMetropolitan, Mr. Winter has performed in numerous ensembles and been coached by members of the
Shanghai, Borromeo, and Manhattan String Quartets, Pamela Frank, Vivian Weilerstein, Lucy Chapman, and Donald
Palma of the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, among others. As first violinist of the Beaumont String Quartet, in 1999 they
toured Belgium, Holland, and Germany as guests of the Maastrict International Music Festival; the same year, the quartet
was featured on the Tim Timberlake Show - WRVA. As a devoted teacher, he has been a faculty member of New England
Conservatory’s “Festival Youth Orchestra” Summer Institute where he taught violin, chamber msuic and orchestral playing;
he is currently on the faculty of the Wintergreen Summer Music Academy and is an Instructor of Violin at SUNY – Purchase
College, in addition to presenting numerous masterclasses, workshops, and maintaining a private studio. Mr. Winter
received his Bachelor of Music degree from the New England Conservatory of Music where he studied violin with Boston
Symphony Orchestra concertmaster, Malcolm Lowe and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree at the State University of
New York – Purchase Conservatory with Laurie Smukler. His other most notable principal teachers include Sylvia
Rosenberg, Piotr Milewski, Eric Rosenblith, Kurt Sassmannshaus, and Philip Setzer of the Emerson String Quartet.

Hollywood career serving as Violin Tutor for Robert Downey, Jr. and playing the role of Violinist in the upcoming feature
film Sherlock Holmes (2009).
Adriana Pera, cellist
Cellist and New York native, Adriana Pera, has established herself as equally at home in many genres of music. As a
performer, she has been a cellist with the Slee Sinfonietta, Principal Cellist with the Symphony Orchestras of Toronto and
Buffalo Universities, and a member of the Parkdale Revolutionary Orchestra – a contemporary rock band. Ms. Pera has
participated in the International Bach Festival, directed by Maestro Helmuth Rilling, and at the “June in Buffalo” Series, an
annual festival of contemporary music hosting notables such as Steve Reich. Passionate about new music, she has
performed Augusta Read Thomas' cello concerto, Passion Prayers and the world premiere of Vanity of the Heavens by
Yoshiko Ando at THE SOUNDLAB. This spring, she will lead performances of Boulez’s Mesagessaquisse – a cello septet.
An engaging chamber musician and cellist of trioMetropolitan, Ms. Pera has performed with many ensembles and been
coached by the Orion and St. Lawrence String Quartets, Gryphon Trio, and has performed for Janos Starker, Leon
Fleisher, Fred Sherry, and Menahem Pressler among others. She received a Bachelor of Music from the University at
Buffalo (winner of the 2002 Baird Concerto Competition) and a Master of Music from the University of Toronto, studying
with Jonathan Golove and Shauna Rolston, respectively. Doctoral studies at the University of Toronto with David
Hetherington of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. Ms. Pera is currently pursuing an Artist Diploma at the State University
of New York – Purchase Conservatory with Julia Lichten of the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra. She is presently on the
faculty of the School of the Holy Child in Rye, NY and maintains a private studio.
